Department of Global Logistics & SCM

○ The Global Logistics & SCM major is a 2+2 articulated degree program based on cooperation between Pukyong National University and Vietnam’s University of Transport Ho Chi Minh City and University of Transport and Communications in Hanoi. Students complete four semesters at a partner university in Vietnam, then articulate into the third year at Pukyong National University and complete the curriculum through the fourth year, receiving advanced education in global logistics and supply chain management.

○ The program is a specialized curriculum designed on the basis of Pukyong National University’s educational strengths in international trade and logistics. Students build foundational competencies in logistics and transportation at the Vietnamese partner university and then complete advanced and interdisciplinary coursework at Pukyong National University.

○ During the Pukyong National University stage, Korean-language courses are provided to improve academic adjustment and workplace communication. The program also connects students with the Global Innovation College’s international-student support system, including mentoring, dormitory support, visa assistance, and settlement support.

○ Vietnam Stage: Foundations are built through Introduction to Logistics, Introduction to Freight Transportation, Warehouse Management, Road and Rail Transportation, Maritime and Inland Waterway Transportation, Air Transportation, Customs and Clearance, Multimodal Transportation, Financial Management, and Korean-language courses. Depending on the partner university, coursework may also include economics, business administration, statistics, information technology, service marketing, foreign trade, and transportation operations management.

○ Pukyong National University Stage: Advanced study centers on International Transportation, International Commercial Transactions, International Port Management, International Trade, International Business Administration, International Logistics, Logistics SCM, International Finance, International Economics, International Business and the Business Environment, International Logistics Strategy, Rules of International Commerce, Understanding and Utilization of FTAs, Electronic Trade, International Marketing, Logistics Industry and Technology, Trade and Logistics Business Practice, project-based logistics seminars, and Korean-language courses.

○ Research and learning focus on maritime and port logistics, international logistics practice, global supply-chain management, smart logistics, international transportation, and logistics-information processing. Project-based learning is used to strengthen field-oriented problem-solving capabilities.

○ Graduates can pursue careers in a wide range of fields, including shipping companies, port authorities, integrated logistics companies, freight forwarding companies, trading companies, distribution companies, e-commerce companies, and supply chain management departments of manufacturing companies. With an understanding of logistics and trade practices connecting Korea and Vietnam, graduates can build competitive careers with domestic and international logistics companies as well as Korean-affiliated global companies.

○ Students can also prepare for professional certifications such as the Certified Logistics Manager, International Trade Specialist, and Trade English certifications. They may further develop their expertise by pursuing international certifications in global logistics or continuing their studies in graduate school. Employment and settlement support programs provided by Pukyong National University and its partner institutions offer a foundation for career planning and successful adaptation to the workplace after graduation.
