We are interested in understanding structural, physical, and chemical properties of minerals in geological processes, on the basis of using density functional theory (DFT) modeling and synchrotron X-ray measurements. We aim at evaluating minerals as a geological proxy in igneous and metamorphic rocks. For these purposes we combine experiments and field observations with various electron- and X-ray based microscopic and spectroscopic analyses including EPMA, SEM/EDS, and TEM.
