세포공학

연구실소개

세포공학연구실은 해양생물을 비롯한 다양한 생명체에서 유래되는 배아 및 성체 줄기세포를 활용하여 세포 기반의 생물 신소재로서 의학적/약학적 활용을 위한 연구들을 수행하고 있습니다. 현재, 줄기세포 연구분야는 줄기세포가 가지는 생물 신소재로서의 무한한 잠재력으로 인해 생명공학을 비롯한 생물학 전반에 걸쳐 집중적인 연구가 이루어지고 있고, 특히, 모델동물 및 가축, 그리고 인간을 대상으로 하는 줄기세포 연구가 전 세계적으로 매우 활발히 이루어지고 있습니다. 뿐만 아니라, 이들 연구는 단기간에 상당한 발전을 이루어 왔으며 향 후 지속된 연구개발을 통한 의학적 활용이 기대되고 있습니다. 이와 함께 해양생물 유래 줄기세포는 해양생물이 가지는 생물 다양성으로 인해, 각 생물의 고유 특성을 보유한 다양한 줄기세포를 분리할 수 있으며, 이를 통해 세포재생 기전 연구, 고부가가치 생리활성 물질 개발, 생체반응기 개발 등 기초연구 분야, 수산해양생명과학연구 분야 및 의약학연구 분야에 적극 활용될 수 있습니다. 본 연구실에서는 다양한 해양생물로부터 배아 및 성체 줄기세포의 분리, 효율적인 체외 배양/조작 시스템 구축, 각 줄기세포의 세포학적/유전학적 특성 분석을 통해 각 세포들의 생물학적 특성들을 이해하고 생물 신소재로서의 활용을 위한 기반기술들을 개발하고자 합니다.
