자연계 광물들의 물리·화학적 특성을 원자·분자 단위에서 규명하고 이를 바탕으로 화성·변성 조건에서 광물을 지질환경지시자(geological proxy)로 활용하는 연구를 수행합니다. 이를 위해 야외지질조사에서 획득된 시료와 실험실에서 합성된 광물에 대한 실험분석(, EPMA, SEM, 편광현미경 등)과 싱크로트론 X-ray 측정, 양자역학 모델링 등 다양한 정량화 방법들을 활용합니다.
