I'm guiding you about the Language Exams for Graduates and Qualification Exam, so please submit your application within the deadline. Please follow the attached guide to apply for the Qualification examination and submit the application by mail or to the office. The deadline for submission is September 2nd, and if you submit after the deadline, you cannot take the exam. We are not responsible for any disadvantages caused by failure to take the exam. ▣ 추진일정
※ 기타 상세 내용은 [붙임 1] 참조 Language Exams for Graduates - The language exam means an English exam for Korean Ph.D. students and the Korean language proficiency test (TOPIK: Test of Proficiency in Korean) for foreign Ph.D students. - The language exam can be taken by the students who have enrolled for more than 2 semesters and have taken more than 12 credits. - Korean Ph.D. students should take two language exams: an English exam and a second language exam. - Foreign Ph.D. students do not need to take the second language exam, but can submit the TOPIK certificate for the second language exam. - Foreign students should submit a certificate of the TOPIK above level 3, or get a grade above B0 in two Korean language courses, if they write the thesis in English. - Foreign students should submit a certificate of the TOPIK level 5 or higher, if they write the thesis in Korean. - Korean students do not need to take the English exam, if they have a TOEIC score of 800 or higher. Korean Ph.D. students should take a second language exam and need to choose one of the following languages: Japanese, German, French, Chinese, Spanish, and Italian.
Qualification Exam - M.A. students who have enrolled for more than 3 semesters or taken more than 12 credits can apply for the qualification exam. - Ph.D. students who have enrolled for more than 4 semesters or taken more than 18 credits can apply for the qualification exam. - Students must pass all the subjects selected (3 subjects for M.A. students and 4 subjects for Ph.D. students). - Students have to choose the subjects for the qualification exam offered by their department, and not by other graduate schools. - Students can’t choose all subjects offered by one professor. - If a student fails, he or she cannot change the subjects for the next qualification exam. - If a student does not pass any of the examinations (Language and Qualification Exams), he/she cannot ask for thesis defense. |
