Introduction
The ABES(Advanced Building Energy System) Laboratory focuses on HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, a core component of buildings and industrial facilities. Our laboratory conducts pioneering research to create a comfortable thermal environment and achieve efficient system control and operational optimization. To address the challenges of modern society, such as rapidly increasing power demand and the proliferation of precision processes, we propose next-generation HVAC management solutions that go beyond energy optimization. Leveraging AI-based intelligent algorithms, digital twins, and various simulation programs, the laboratory precisely implements physical systems in a virtual environment. Based on these systems, we apply and test solutions directly in buildings and industrial sites to ensure the reliability of our research results. The ABES Laboratory conducts research across a wide range of fields, from general office buildings to specialized spaces requiring extreme environmental control, such as semiconductor fabs, industrial plants, and precision equipment. Currently, through numerous national policy projects and corporate collaborations, we conduct research across the entire process, from developing advanced logic to quantitatively calculate energy savings rates to implementing them in real-world systems.
