Specializing in twentieth- and twenty-first-century Black and women-of-color poetry and other cultural productions in and beyond the U.S. context, my scholarship is situated at the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and aesthetics. The central aim of my research is to show how literary and other aesthetic practices by minoritarian artists respond to the systemic violence of racist and sexist schemas sustained by heteronormative, white supremacist structures of power, and in doing so, to imagine how racialized and gendered bodies might enact alternative modes of being and belonging beyond these dominant systems.
